Querceto di Castellina Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione 2019
AWARDS
Review by The Wine Advocate I, Monica Lerner. Score 94
A certified organic wine, the Querceto di Castellina 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sei reveals an authentic personality that does a great job underlining the territory. You smell earth and crushed limestone on the bouquet along with tart cherry fruit, grilled herb and tobacco. You can't mistake this elegant, mid-weight expression for anything but a Tuscan red wine.

The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sei is a polished style of red also made from 100%
Sangiovese but aged longer (18 months) in French oak. Ripe with notes of cherry candy, sweet cedar, and crushed red flowers, the palate is medium to full-bodied, with more depth of fruit through the mid-palate. Its oak influence is certainly felt, with building tannins and notes of red plum pit, turned earth, and toasted baking spices. It reveals a wonderful purity of fruit underneath its oak and may benefit from having more time to integrate. Allow another year or two and drink 2024-2036.
